Quick Shop, Spent $1.99!

This Sunday's inserts (7/31) brought some GREAT coupons!!!!  So I decided to run into town with $2 in my pocket!  That's right $2

I went to Food Lion and purchased 6 rolls of Marcal paper towels (on sale for $1 each)
-I used (6) $1 off and Marcal Small Steps product. (RP 7/31)
I paid $0.41 out of pocket!  That 41 cents was the tax I was required to pay, the paper towels were FREE!!!

*This is the last day that Marcal products will be on sale for $1 @ Food Lion, but the paper towels are regularly $1.18 I think, so the coupon is still worth it!

Then I went over to Carlie C's IGA.  I purchased 8 tubes of Nivea Lip Balm (on sale for $1.59 each)
-I used (4) $3 off two Nivea Lip Balms (RP 7/31)
I paid $1.58 out of pocket!

Total for the trip: $1.99 out of pocket, and I got 6 rolls of paper towels and 8 tubes of lip balm and came home with a penny.

HOT Pampers Deal @ CVS 8/7 - 8/13

The picture above is from a huge Pampers couponing shop my husband did a few weeks ago (read about that here)

I thought that picture would be appropriate for the upcoming deal at CVS the week of 8/7 - 8/13

Jumbo packs of Pamper's diapers will be $8.99 with $3 ECB (Limit 1)
This Sunday (7/31) there will a coupon for $2/1 pack Pampers Swaddlers diapers in the P&G brand saver insert

Here is what you do:
Buy one pack of Pamper's diapers @ $8.99
-use $2/1 Pampers coupon
Pay: $6.99 + tax
Get: $3 ECB on receipt

The limit is only one so the ECB will not print again but you will still get the sale price with your card.
So go back to the register and do this:
Buy one pack of Pamper's diapers @ $8.99
-use $2/1
-use $3 ECB
Pay: $3.99 + tax

You just got a GREAT deal on Pampers diapers!!

If you have any ECBs by all means use those with your first purchase and you will get the diapers even cheaper!!

New to couponing?  Please read my getting started guide, CVS 101 here
Also check out the Coupon Lingo page here

Remember this is @ CVS the week of 8/7, not this coming week!

Freebie Mail Call

Here is everything I got in my mailbox this week from requesting free stuff!  It was a really FUN week too!!

Realistic Harris Teeter Shop

I did a few shopping trips this week, CVS and Rite Aid of course. I didn't get pictures and before I knew it everything got snatched up by family members. I got four Resolve laundry stain removers for free at Rite Aid and those were a big hit. Since I didn't get my photos I thought I would share what my friend Hayley did at Harris Teeter.

This shopping trip is a great example of how you can save tons of money with coupons and still buy practical things that you would need for the week.

She got a 12 pack of Pepsi Max, Minute Maid juice, Coffee Mate creamer, 1 gallon of milk, 2 boxes of Trix cereal, a box of tampons, one bag of Meow Mix cat food, one Febreeze room spray, one Febreeze fabric

Retail value of everything above: $51.38
**Grand Total after VIC saving and coupons: $19.95**

Hayley did a great job! Don't forget to like my Facebook page and follow me on Twitter, I will update you on great deals!!!

Saving Star - No clipping, no printing!

I have been using Saving Star for a while now and it is so worth it!  If you are not that big into couponing or don't have the time, this is the site for you!  All you have to do is load your grocery and drug store loyalty cards onto this site and then click the coupons!  It's really that simple and stores all over the country participate!

The savings is NOT taken off at the register, but it will accrue in your online account.  Once you get to $5.00 (which is not hard at all) you can cash out or you can let the savings build in your online account until you are ready to use it.

It gets even better, you can use coupons that you clip from the newspaper or print online for the exact same product you activated a Saving Star coupon for at check out to take money off at the register and you will still get the money deposited in your account!  That's double savings!

Saving Star tracks your purchases when you load your grocery store or drugstore loyalty card on to their website, so get your cards handy and sign up now, click here.  You can load as many cards as you want.

Here is some of what Savings Star has this month:

Great Savings On Pampers!

While I was at work my husband took advantage of a sale Food Lion was having.  Yes, FOOD LION!  There is a 3-day sale on jumbo packs of Pampers diapers for $7.99.  We had (20) $1.50 off Pampers coupons (P&G 6/5).  This sale price combined with coupons beats the price of Pampers at Sam's Club or diapers.com.

He bought 20 packs.  They are regularly priced $10.99 at Food Lion.  We saved $90 (41%) in total.  Basically we got 3 months worth of diapers for the cost of 2 months!  I am excited about that.

It gets even better, I calculated out that those 20 packs are worth 720 Gifts to Grow points!  Read more about the Pampers Gifts to Grow program here.   You don't have to buy diapers to participate!

This sale ends on Sunday (7/17/11), so if you have a baby in diapers or need a baby shower gift, don't miss out!

For a two year subscription, which is 24 issues, you will pay $34.00. By going through Ebates you will get 26% ($8.84) back at magazines.com which makes it $1.05 an issue. Great Rite Aid Trip 7/10

We had an EXCELLENT Rite Aid trip this week.   I purchased (4) 4-pack Noxema razors, (3) Old Spice deodorants, (3) Old Spice bodysprays, (2) Crest toothpastes, (2) Crest mouthwashes, and (4) Softsoap body washes.  (Note: Toilet Paper was a separate transaction, I will get to that next).

All of those items would cost $86.82, which my wellness + card, coupons, and +UP bucks I reduced the price to a subtotal of $3.67!!!!  Even better our receipt printed $20 in +UP for me to use next week!

This is one of my favorite shops, it was just so fun to watch the coupons bring down the total!!!

The toilet paper was a separate transaction.  We bought (2) 12-packs of Scott's toilet paper and paid $12 total, so we got each roll for $0.50.  This is my husbands favorite toilet paper so he was excited about that.

I am currently working on instructions for getting started at Rite Aid so you can do this with me.  Will try to post them soon.

Little CVS Trip 7/10

There weren't very many things at CVS this week, but I did get diapers and having a 3 1/2 month old, I need diapers!  I was previously purchasing diapers from diapers.com but have found that CVS and Rite Aid are the best for purchasing diapers.  My goal is always $0.15 or less per diaper.

I purchased 1 large box of Pampers diapers, 1 Bic Soleil razor, and 1 Complete contact solution.  Before my store card and coupons the total was $41.97 and I reduced that to  a $12.47 subtotal with coupons and ECBs.  Here is the best part...my receipt printed $16.99 in ECB for next weeks trip!  So I bought diapers and made money!!!

Look for posts on my Walgreens and Rite Aid trip in a bit.

Wal-Mart Money Makers

Just got back from a quick little shopping trip at Wal-Mart which could not have come at a better time.  As I was doing dishes Thursday I noticed that I only had two of the detergent packs left for our dishwasher.  Lucky for me the P&G insert from 7/3 had $1 off any Cascade product.  Wal-Mart sells trial packs which have 3 detergent packs each for $0.97 and that equals a money maker (remember you are allowed to use the overage on your total bill at Wal-Mart).  I had 8 coupons, I bought 8 which is 24 detergent packs for FREE + profit!!

I also had 4 $1 off any Black Flag product coupons and Wal-Mart sells Black Flag fly swatters for $0.98 each.  Another money maker.  With the few cents in overage I had a bought a few bananas (not pictured) and my subtotal came to $0.12!!

Pretty fun little shop and it's not even Sunday yet!

Mail Call...

Going to the mail box these days is very exciting for me!  I thought I would start a little weekly post to show everybody what I get.  Here is what I received this week: a coupon for one FREE Suave Creamy Body Wash, 2 coupons for $5 off any Bounty product (one was actually sent to my parents house, but I sent it there so it's technically mine), and a really cute little sample of Secret deodorant.

I got most of these through Facebook.  Make sure you "Like" my Facebook page here, I generally post freebie links there.  Hope you get something great in the mail too!

CVS Trip in NY 7/4

I spent a week in New York visiting family and of course my husband and I could not resist couponing while we were there.  This is our CVS trip.  Tax was a little higher but we still did great!

We purchased Herbal Essence shampoo and mousse, a Gillette Fusion Pro Glide razor, Tampax Perle tampons, 2 Oral B manual toothbrushes, and 2 Oral B electric toothbrushes.  Our subtotal was only $0.45!!

I used coupons and 15.50 in Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) from previous trips to pay for the items and at checkout I received $15 in ECBs for my next trip!   The savings was 99.1%  for this trip!  You can't beat that.

If you want to get started couponing at CVS see my page for step by step instructions here.

**If you are on Facebook or Twitter please "like" my page or follow me.  Use the buttons in my side bar on the right!**

Rite Aid trip 6/26

**Don't forget to "Like" my facebook page to be entered into a giveaway! Details here**

Here is what we got at Rite Aid Sunday: (1) Coppertone sunscreen, (1) box Veet wax strips, (4) Stayfree Maxi pads, (4) O.B. tampons, (5) Old Spice deodorants, (1) Secret deodorant, (2) Excedrin pain relievers, an (2) Crest toothpastes

How much did we pay?  Subtotals before taxes were $1.41 and taking into account retail prices we saved a total of 97.5%!!!  And we left the store with $28 in +up bucks (store credit) to use next Sunday!

I have the receipts in front of me and I would give you more of a breakdown of how we did it but we had such a rough time at checkout it is confusing.  We used a store that was not our regular Rite Aid (we were out of town) and the cashier did not understand coupons.  At one point she needed to manually put in a coupon and the subtotal started going up!  We had to void two transactions and start over, it was a disaster.  After we got home we realized two of our 75 cents off coupons did not get used, it was just so complicated.  Still we did great and we will not be going back to that Rite Aid.

I will explain how I got the sunscreen though.  The Coppertone sunscreen was on clearance for $5.24.  I had a store coupon for $1 off and a manufacturer coupon for $1 off.  You are allowed to pair these for a single item so I got the sunscreen for $3.24 and used +up bucks from a previous trip to cover the rest!  I have done this several times this summer and it has been wonderful not paying $8 or more for a single bottle of sunscreen.

Make sure to always go by the clearance section when you are shopping.  If you don't have your coupon notebook just jot down what you see and the prices, then check for coupons when you get home.  You can find some amazing deals this way.  Most people over look the clearance sections so don't worry if you don't grab it on the first trip, chances are it will be there when you are headed back that way in a day or so.

The Children's Place, Great Savings

I'm very excited about this one especially since I have a little boy.  The Children's Place is having a 4th of July extravaganza.  They are running clearance on lots of items and they have a 15% off code you can apply to the clearance items making them up to 75% off!!!  The code to use is W2E2011.  A lot of the items on clearance happen to be summer clothing too!

Here is another great thing about The Children's Place, if you order $75 worth you get free shipping.  Even if you don't order this much they have $5 flat rate shipping on all orders in the United States.  So that is GREAT!

But, wait there's more...go through Ebates and you get 4% cash back on your entire order!!!  If you are unfamiliar with Ebates read my blog post about it here If you haven't yet signed up for Ebates do so through my link here and you will receive $5 dollars when you make a purchase of $25 at a store through Ebates.  This $5 dollars would pay for the shipping on your Children's Place order!  Add that $5 with your 4% cash back and you could get some really cute kids clothes very cheap!

This is worth a look guys!  Check it out

Food Lion Fun....Again

**Don't forget to "Like" my facebook page to be entered into a giveaway!  Details here**

Every Sunday we have downtime between leaving CVS and waiting for Rite Aid to open (aka Coupon Halftime).   This past Sunday we decided to hit up Food Lion and do the "Big Deal" one more time.  For those of you who missed what we did at Food Lion last week, click here.  (hint: we saved 71% that trip!)

I had one $1 off All detergent coupon left and the Sunday paper brought some great Milo's Kitchen dog treat coupons.  Dog treats are difficult to get on a good sale so we were super excited as I'm sure the dogs are excited as well.  We used some Kraft dressings as a filler item to get ten total items.

In total we got one 32 oz All Free & Clear detergent (our favorite brand), five Milo's Kitchen dog treats, and 4 Kraft dressings.  The big deal took $5 dollars off the total purchase automatically.  Combined with coupons I got all this for $7.03 (that is with tax included).  Just to give you an idea of how much we saved the Milo's Kitchen dog treats are regularly $2.99, if we had purchased 5 of those without coupons, the dog treats alone would have been $14.95 before tax.

The idea is to stock up where you can.  Our dogs love treats.  There was a time and we would just run into Wal-Mart when the treats were out and pick up some more, hardly even looking at the price and we certainlyy didn't have a coupon.  Makes me sick to think of all the money we were throwing away.

Always look at the coupons you have and see if any of them match up with current sale prices.  A good rule of thumb I use is this:  If I can get a name brand cheaper than the equivalent store brand and it is an item I need, I get it.  If I absolutely need it now and the store brand is the cheapest that is what I go with and I save the coupon for another day.  Even if that coupon is about to expire go with the cheaper price, I promise you will get that coupon again.

When you are out and about shopping, don't forget to look at unit price.  If your coupon does not specify size, the better deal may be to buy 2 small boxes rather than one large box (note: this is where multiples of a coupon come in handy).

The discussion of unit price brings me to my third and final tip, ALWAYS bring your calculator (a little $1 dollar calculator will do - you just need the 4 basic functions).  Please don't ever be embarrassed to walk around with your coupon notebook and calculator, people are usually intrigued by a couponer and want to know how you save so much!

Happy couponing!

Listia FREE Auctions

The blog has been a little quiet.  I have been promising to explain Listia more so here it is!  Think Ebay minus the money.  Listia is a totally free auction site.  There is no money involved, you use credits to bid on items (you get 400+ credits to start).  If you sign up through my link you will get an additional 100 credits.

Here is how to get the max number of credits to start:

1) Sign up through my link here
2) Once signed up, complete the Listia tutorial
3) You can link your Facebook account and Twitter account if you have them for an extra 50 points each
4) List your first auction.  The easiest thing to list as your first auction is a My Coke Rewards code.  You can find these on bottle caps or on the box of a 12 pack from any Coca Cola product.  This is easy to do for a first auction because it is something you most likely have laying around your house and you can simply e-mail the code to the winner without worrying about shipping.

This site is totally legit and I use it, you can find me - my user name is Kim051185.  Once signed up and you have your free credits you can look for things to bid on.  Before you bid you do have to verify your account.  To do this you will need to give Listia a valid phone number, they will make an automated call and give you a pin number to type in.  I have done this and I have not received any further calls from Listia nor have I gotten any telemarketing calls as a result of doing this.  The reason your account is verified to to prevent fraudulent activity.

Most auctions have free shipping when you bid on something that will be shipped. If you want something that needs to be mailed/shipped just pick an auction that has free shipping.  If you are going to list something that you plan to mail or ship you can decide if you would like to eat the shipping cost or if you would like the buyer to pay shipping.  I would suggest you pick something that wouldn't be to expensive to ship and pay shipping costs yourself until you gain some experience (the more you use Listia the more experience you gain and you will also gain the trust of the buyers).  Once you gain some experience you can ask the buyer to pick up the shipping tab if you want.

Listia does have rules and they are very fair, if you do not receive an item or if there is a dispute you can get your credits back.  Just skim over their rules if you sign up so you know what they are all about.

You can bid on or list just about anything through Listia, even coupons!  Listia only allows free coupons (not cents or dollars off, not buy one get one free...the coupon can only be for a totally free item that requires no purchase).  There are gift cards, clothes, movies, DVDs, books, baby items, purses, and jewelry to name a few.  Think super high end, upscale yard sale online.

My favorite thing to bid on is Pampers Gifts to Grow rewards codes.  I have probably gotten 1,000 Pampers points from Lista that I will put towards getting prizes at pampers.com.  If you want to know more about Pampers Gifts to Grow you can see my post about it here.  That post also contains lots of free promotional codes to get you started in the Gifts to Grow program.

Just give Listia a look, its totally worth it!  Happy bidding!
